More About Gulfstream G200

The Gulfstream 200, a pioneer among super-midsize private jets, set the stage for the Gulfstream series’ remarkable success. Introduced by the newly-formed Galaxy Aerospace Corp, a division of Israel Aviation Industries (IAI), this jet continues to be a formidable competitor, even alongside its more recent counterparts like the G450 and G550. The G200 epitomizes the essence of a private jet, offering exceptional range, cabin space, and speed, making it the ultimate choice for swift and comfortable long-range missions.

Cabin Versatility: The G200’s cabin is designed to cater to your every need, accommodating between eight and nineteen passengers. With dimensions measuring 24.4 feet in length, 7.2 feet in width, and 6.3 feet in height, this cabin offers an abundance of space. For those who demand more than standard amenities, optional additions include a radio phone, entertainment systems, and interior design upgrades. Moreover, each passenger is equipped with a personal power outlet, while 125 cubic feet of baggage space in an external compartment can carry up to 2,400 pounds of cargo. One distinctive feature of the G200, honed during its design in the extreme temperatures of Israel, is its ability to maintain a cool cabin. On scorching days, it can cool the cabin to a refreshing 75ºF even when the outside temperature climbs to 113ºF. The cabin and cockpit feature separate climate controls, ensuring passengers enjoy fresh air rather than recirculated air.

Powerful Propulsion: The G200 is powered by two Pratt & Whitney PW306A engines, each providing a flat-rated thrust of 6,040 pounds. These engines, akin to the PW305 engines used on the successful Learjet 60 and Hawker 1000, deliver not only exceptional performance but also a significant 785 pounds of additional thrust.

Impressive Altitude and Speed: Climbing to an altitude of 37,000 feet in a mere nineteen minutes, the G200 demonstrates its swift ascent capability. For long-range cruising, it maintains a speed of 430 knots at an altitude of 41,000 feet, while for high-speed cruising, it effortlessly reaches 470 knots (equivalent to Mach 0.82) at 39,000 feet. The cabin’s pressurization system, rated to 8.9 psi, ensures a sea-level cabin experience at 23,000 feet or maintains an 8,000-foot cabin at its maximum flight level of 45,000 feet. With an impressive range of 3,910 miles (3,400 nautical miles), the G200 is perfectly suited for transcontinental or transoceanic missions.

Advanced Aerodynamics: The G200 boasts an aerodynamic airframe, meticulously designed with the aid of 3-D computer-aided structural analysis programs. Main structural components are constructed from aluminum alloys, titanium, and steel, with composites employed for secondary structures. Fuel is stored in three tanks—one on each wing and one in the belly of the aircraft—with gravity interconnect valves ensuring automatic fuel level equalization.

Smooth Handling and Precision: The G200 is revered for its even flight characteristics, courtesy of its well-balanced wings. Additionally, its long-travel trailing link landing gear delivers smooth taxiing and landings. The aircraft is equipped with hydraulically-powered carbon anti-skid brakes, providing exceptional ground handling. With a nosewheel capable of pivoting 100 degrees, maneuverability is second to none.

Advanced Avionics: In the cockpit, Galaxy Aerospace Corp has chosen the Collins Pro Line 4 avionics suite. Central to this system is an EICAS (Engine Indicator and Crew Alert System) screen, surrounded by four smaller screens displaying flight and systems information. Standard equipment includes dual ARINC 429 Pro Line Communication/Navigation/Identification radios with dual DMEs and ADEs, a single AlliedSignal GNS-X/EX FMS (Flight Management System), a WXR-840 solid-state weather radar diagnostic computer, digital autopilot, digital air data, and an attitude/heading reference system. For those with specific requirements, additional equipment can be seamlessly integrated.

The Gulfstream 200 defied expectations in the private jet industry and continues to perform at exceptionally high standards. Few super midsize private jets can rival its ability to transport eight passengers across 3,680 miles (3,200 nautical miles) at Mach 0.80. Its reliability and capabilities, typical of first-generation private jets, make it a true trailblazer in the world of aviation. Whether you’re embarking on a new adventure or maintaining a demanding schedule, the Gulfstream 200 remains a trusted companion that excels at every turn.
