More About Falcon 50EX

Dassault Aviation was at the forefront of innovation when they introduced the Falcon 50, the first private jet with an intercontinental range. Nearly two decades later, they took their groundbreaking creation and breathed new life into it. The Falcon 50EX retains the beloved features of its predecessor while incorporating advanced technologies to emerge as a private jet that not only pays homage to its roots but surpasses them in every aspect. It’s a seamless blend of tradition and modernity.

Cabin Comfort: The Falcon 50EX’s cabin remains true to its origins, offering a familiar haven of comfort and space. With dimensions of 5.9 feet in height, 6.1 feet in width, and a length of 23.5 feet, the Falcon 50EX maintains a cabin volume of 700 cubic feet. Internal compartments provide 115 cubic feet of storage for your luggage, complemented by three spacious closets for coats, suits, and briefcases. All baggage compartments are fully pressurized, ensuring the safety of your belongings. The Falcon 50EX can carry up to 2,205 pounds of luggage, catering to your travel needs.

In-Flight Amenities: Designed with your convenience in mind, the Falcon 50EX offers a versatile nine-passenger seating configuration. It comprises a four-seat club arrangement and a separate section with two-facing seats and a three-seat divan. Fold-out work tables between facing seats facilitate in-flight productivity, while power plugs are available for laptops and office equipment. Temperature control is individually managed for both the cockpit and the cabin, ensuring a comfortable journey. The Falcon 50EX also features space and equipment for hot and cold food preparation, complete with an oven, ice chest, and coffee maker.

Thriving on Turbofans: Powered by three Honeywell TFE731-40 turbofan engines, the Falcon 50EX takes performance to new heights. These engines, part of the second generation of the TFE731 series, offer enhanced thrust at cruising speeds while consuming less fuel compared to the Falcon 50’s TFE731-3-1C engines. Operating efficiently at high altitudes and temperatures, these engines produce 3,440 pounds of thrust at an elevation of 5,000 feet and a temperature of 77°F—equivalent to 93% of the thrust generated at standard sea level conditions.

Advanced Engine Control: The -40 engines feature Full Authority N1-reference Digital Electronic Engine Control (FADEC) systems, which streamline engine startup and shutdown on the ground. This not only reduces pilot workload but also optimizes fuel efficiency and overall performance. Furthermore, these engines are manufactured with precision, resulting in tighter tolerances and reduced leakage.

Impressive Takeoff and Climbing: The Falcon 50EX boasts remarkable runway performance, requiring just 4,935 feet for takeoff at sea level and 7,247 feet at an elevation of 5,000 feet with a temperature of 77°F. Its maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) has been increased to 39,700 pounds, a significant 900-pound boost from the Falcon 50. Climbing directly to 37,000 feet in a mere 17 minutes, the Falcon 50EX outpaces its predecessor by a remarkable 13 minutes. For long-range trips, it cruises at 417 knots at an altitude of 43,000 feet, while for optimal speed, it maintains 481 knots at 39,000 feet. The Falcon 50EX can reach an impressive maximum flight ceiling of 49,000 feet.

Aerodynamic Precision: Employing computer-molded fluid dynamics software and lightweight materials, the Falcon 50EX’s design prioritizes aerodynamics. Its primary structures consist of aluminum monocoque, with composites used for certain secondary components. This refined design not only enhances performance but also reduces the sound generated during takeoff to just 83.8 EPNdB.

Redundancy and Control: The Falcon 50EX features three fuel tanks regulated by electrical transfer pumps. These pumps can serve as emergency backup systems should both hydraulic systems powering the avionics fail. Even in the unlikely event of all three systems failing, the aircraft’s flight controls can still be operated manually, ensuring safety and control.

State-of-the-Art Avionics: The Falcon 50EX’s cockpit is equipped with the Collins Pro Line 4 avionics suite, featuring four 7.25×7.25 inch screens that display essential flight information. Intuitive cockpit layout places flight controls in close proximity to corresponding displays. Standard equipment includes a dual Pro Line II radio system, dual digital air-computers, a TWR-850 Doppler turbulence detection radar, an AlliedSignal dual Global GNS-XMS Flight Management System, and various other flight control and environmental awareness systems.

In essence, the Falcon 50EX stands as a testament to the evolution of private jet aviation. It builds upon the legacy of the Falcon 50, enhancing every aspect from its cabin to its engines. The result is an unequivocally superior private jet that seamlessly melds the best of the past with the innovations of today. Whether embarking on transcontinental journeys or pursuing a demanding schedule, the Falcon 50EX elevates your travel experience to new heights of luxury and performance.
